Organisation Culture is basically what the team does when no one is watching.
NFN Labs was started with the core idea that we don’t have to follow convention. Here are few decisions we took that worked for us.
Focus on results
Our role as problem solvers is to focus on results and not on the activity / task. Activity is not achievement. Whatever we make, design or develop should solve the problem in the most delightful and scalable way. You ‘show’ more than ‘tell’ and avoid analysis-paralysis. Celebrate all wins and share failures so that others don’t repeat it. We work 4 days a week to think and build. Fridays are for reflecting, appreciating and course correcting wherever applicable.
Be our own client
There is a benchmark of quality we have set for ourselves which helps us to build chart topping solutions. We will extend the same to everyone we work with. We don’t take up work that we can’t put on our website or associate our name with.
User led, driven by design
Our solutions always keep the end user in mind to make their life easy. We want to build solutions that are beautiful, functional and scalable. We will always set and measure the right metrics to determine success.
Be on the cutting edge
Explore upcoming technologies as a playground of sorts. Know what works and what doesn’t by using them on our own products or ideas. We then translate these learnings to everyone we work with so ship thoughtful, scalable products.
Small is big
We want to stay within 30-40 team members. Small is big for us. We don’t have titles (no CEO, CTO, Senior, Junior). If you are part of the team that means you bring value to the table. We don’t track time spent. No in-time or out-time. We don’t like ID cards dangling around our necks. We want to create an environment where you can become a better version of yourself. With the hope that if you become better you might help others too.
Be autonomous
Continue to be bootstrapped and profitable. We are answerable to ourselves. We don’t have a sales team. Every new project is word of mouth. This works well because we are a small team.
Be humble
We started from nothing. We learnt a lot of things along the way. We want to extend these learnings to others we work with - so that they can crawl, walk and run faster than we did, and become better than we are.
Seek what makes you happy
Happy. Content. Peaceful. Ultimately isn’t this what we are striving for.
