Welcome to issue 30 of 🔥 Lit Design! I stumbled upon a bunch of interesting products and articles through the week. I’m curating the best of the past week every Monday. Enjoy!
Interesting Apps and Services
Podcastle - Converts text news/articles to a podcast, with very natural human speech using machine learning. I am going to try it on some of my previous long form posts and share my experience soon :)
Polite Email Popup - Remember those pesky pop-ups and notifications which are shoved into your face as soon you landing on a page or a blog, well this service tries to be a little polite
CloudMounter - We use Google Drive for work related stuff and CloudMounter has been a great app to simulate Drive availability on my Mac - without taking any local disk space.

The illusion of productivity - by Anne-Laure Le Cunff
Dr Brené Brown, a research professor at the University of Houston, describes being “crazy busy” as a numbing strategy that allows us to avoid facing the truth of our lives. “I often say that when they start having 12-step meetings for busy-aholics, they’ll need to rent out football stadiums.” She explains that we would rather fill the time with activities—any kind of activity—than to take the risk of finding ourselves alone with our thoughts. And our society encourages this behaviour: being idle or having too much free time is often considered a sign of laziness.
Happy 90th, Warren! - by Bill Gates
Warren (Buffet) has a phenomenal eye for talent. He buys great businesses run by brilliant people, and then gives them the autonomy to make their own decisions. Most of the managers at Berkshire businesses stay for decades, often past the retirement age. Even if they make a few mistakes, they know Warren will stick with them.
These look beautiful
Terranium-inspired Backflow Incense Burners (phew) - Check out the videos on the page - they look calming and Insta-zen feels
Teardrop-shaped tents - Ok these look cool and you might want to head to Borgloon forest (sometime soon in the near future) in Belgium, where four teardrop-shaped tents have been suspended from the trees.
